Triunfo Del Amor - Ministry of Communications and Information is preparing an early warning system on natural disasters such as tsunamis or weather changes as well as information about the earthquake that recently occurred through mobile phone short messages.
"The number of cellular phone operating in Indonesia, nearly 200 million or almost equal to the total population of Indonesia, so that early warning system was chosen to be disseminated via mobile phone short message or SMS," said Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Post Tifatul Sembiring National Disaster Management Agency ( BNPB) Yogyakarta on Saturday.
According to him, early warning systems against various threats such disasters is important considering that Indonesia is an area that is prone to natural disasters, such as earthquakes and tsunamis.
For his part, will work with Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and BNPB for the dissemination of such information.
"We will have a certain number that says BMKG or authorities in disseminating information on the threat of disaster to avoid parties are not responsible for the providing of false information," he said.
In addition to disseminating information through mobile phone short messages, the Ministry of Communications and Information is also almost completed a movie about the earthquake to provide knowledge to the public about earthquakes and the steps anticipated.
"In the film, will be explained about the understanding of earthquakes and the steps that must be done by the community during the earthquake," he said, who hopes the move was not too long but only five steps.
